Bakman Yusupov & Co.
— About

The firm, in plain terms.

BYC Advisory. Bakman Yusupov & Co., CPA by formal name. A firm of tax and finance professionals who came from senior firm training, in-house controller roles, senior industry seats, and the tax-technical side of the profession. We came together because we saw what the profession was becoming and we wanted to build something else.

We are unafraid to help our clients elevate as the world’s infrastructure evolves.

We are not a roll-up. We are not backed by private equity. We are not trying to become the biggest firm in New York. We are trying to be the right firm for the businesses we actually serve.

02 Origin

Why we started this firm.

We came from different places. Senior firm training. Industry finance seats. In-house controller roles. Senior tax positions. What we had in common was a quiet frustration: we kept watching craft get traded for throughput. Firms optimized for billable hours and head count. Partners cared about the bottom line more than the work. Clients were treated as volume, not as partners.

The profession we joined was not the profession we wanted to practice.

We started this firm because we love the work. We are genuinely excited by technology and what it changes. We find complexity interesting. The questions that most accountants avoid because they are hard or unusual, we pull toward. A client situation that requires actual thinking, not just form-filling, is the kind of engagement we want.

And we have the opposite reaction to what passes for innovation in most of the industry. Firms trying to scale on cheapness. Partners who cannot think creatively about how to serve a client. Practitioners who treat every engagement as a variation of the last one. That pattern is what we left.

So we built this differently. A firm where the engagement is the product, not the hour. Where we invest time in the financial architecture of a business because that is where real value gets created. Where a client hears back within hours, not days. Where AI is used as leverage for the client, not a shortcut internally.

We are not for every business. We are not interested in being the cheapest. We are not going to process returns by the hundred and lose the thread of what makes each business different. We are here for the clients who want more than filing and compliance. The clients who see the accounting function as an investment, not an expense.

But we also believe every client benefits from thoughtful strategy. There is almost always more planning, more structure, and more opportunity than clients initially see.

Some firms chase the numbers game. We chose the other path.

03 What we believe

Principles, plainly stated.

01

Technology excites us.

The profession is being rebuilt, and we would rather build it than survive it. AI and automation are the most interesting thing to happen to accounting in forty years. We treat them as leverage for the client, not as a shortcut for us.

02

Complexity is the work.

The questions that take real thinking, multi-state nexus, entity restructurings, unusual tax positions, complicated partnerships, are the ones we actually want. If your situation is complicated, you are in the right place.

03

Engagements, not transactions.

We build relationships priced on what we deliver, not on hours billed. The client is the engagement, not the form. The value we create lives between the filings, not in them.

04

Craft, not scale.

We are not trying to be the biggest firm. We are trying to be a very good firm for the clients we actually serve. We are unafraid to say no to the work that makes us worse at the work we want.

05

Availability as commitment.

Same-day default. 48-hour maximum. Not as a courtesy. As the agreement. Most of our clients talk to us more than they talked to their prior firm in a year.

06

Strategy before compliance.

Most firms file what happened. We shape what happens next. The tax return is the record. The real work is the year before it.

04 Method

How the engagement actually runs.

Each engagement starts with a diagnostic conversation. We learn the business. We examine the current financial architecture. Then we build the plan for where we go together. The method that follows is the same across Tax, Advisory, Fractional CFO, and AI engagements.

  1. 01 Diagnostic.

We learn your business, your people, your numbers, and the questions you are not yet asking.

  2. 02 Architecture.

We design the financial function the business actually needs, not the one it inherited.

  3. 03 Embedded.

We show up to the work with frequency. Monthly or weekly, depending on the engagement.

  4. 04 Reachable.

Same-day responses as the default. Never more than 48 hours.

  5. 05 Evolving.

The engagement changes as the business changes. What works at year one is not what you need at year five.

06 Location

Forest Hills is a perfectly good place to do excellent work.

We are based in Forest Hills, Queens. We chose Forest Hills because we live here. We chose Queens because the best work happens where the work happens, not where the skyline is. Our clients come to us from Manhattan, Brooklyn, Long Island, Westchester, New Jersey, and beyond. Nobody has ever said they wished we had a Midtown office.
